Top tips to manage your stress

Fact: Stressing too much over exams isn’t good. Manage it and you will perform better by 1.5 GCSE grades (the difference between an A* and B OR between a pass and a fail)1

 

Too much stress can cause some serious problems…

  • A little stress is good. It optimises adrenaline levels, heightens your performance and motivates you to get through a tough challenge

  • But too much stress means…

It’s harder to concentrate and solve problems.

It’s a struggle to focus on the facts you need to remember.

Even simple decisions become difficult.

The good news is you can fight stress and be exam ready.

Top tips

1. Stay hydrated!

Aim to drink 8 glasses of water each day and avoid sugary fizzy drinks – research shows they impair memory and learning skills.2

Sleep is essential as you know, when you’ve been on a Game of Thrones bender!

Aim for 8 hours a night during your exam period and make a pact with your friends to shut down social media an hour before bedtime.

3. Eat well!

Fact: Did you know a Grand Master Chess Player consumes the same number of calories as an Olympian!

Include a piece of fruit and portion of green vegetables every day. Fish is also great for your brain.
